⚽ POSA Soccer Meet the Team Night Agenda

5:30–5:45 PM – Volunteer Arrival & Setup
Volunteers, please arrive early to help get everything set up so we are ready for families as they arrive.

5:30–6:00 PM – Gear Swap (Pre-Event)
Families are welcome to arrive early to browse and trade gently used cleats and shin guards.

6:00 PM – Team Assignments & Check-In
Families will check in and use SportsEngine to find their player’s team assignment.
Players will then head into the gym and find their coach in the stands.

6:10 PM – Welcome & Opening Remarks (5 mins)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA President
Tim will kick off the night with a few words about the season ahead, our goals as a program, and how we are continuing to grow soccer in our community.

6:12 PM – Community Supporters & Partners (3 mins)
A brief thank you to the organizations that make this program possible and those joining us tonight.

Key points to cover:

  • Positive, player-first environment
  • Code of conduct for players, coaches, and families
  • Minimum 50% play time for all players
  • Emphasis on a co-ed, inclusive league experience

6:25 PM – Jerseys & Player Readiness (5 mins)

  • All players should have their official Pines jersey ordered and ready for the start of games
  • Check email for jersey number, ordering link, and promo code
  • Reach out if you need help or cannot locate your information

6:30 PM – Fields & Facilities (3 mins)

  • Field locations and scheduling expectations
  • Respect and care for fields and facilities
  • Appreciation for Newport School District and community support

6:33 PM – Safety, Coaching Requirements & Equipment (5 mins)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA President

Safety & Coaching Requirements:

  • US Soccer coaching license
  • SafeSport certification
  • Concussion training
  • CPR certification

Player Equipment:

  • Required: Shin guards and black socks
  • Recommended: Cleats (U8 and older)

6:38 PM – Equipment & Program Investment (5 mins)
Speaker: Gerald Steeno, Director of Equipment

Key points to cover:

  • Through careful budgeting and an amazing grant, we invested over $3,000 in high-quality soccer balls
  • Achieved our goal of one ball available per child
  • Access to higher-quality equipment than typically available to programs like ours
  • All U4, U6, U8, and U14 goals have been replaced within the last year
  • Exploring upgrades for U10 and U12 next

6:43 PM – Officiating & Game Day Expectations (5 mins)
Speaker: Jeff McCormick, Director of Officiating

  • Overview of officiating and any rule or game flow changes
  • Recruiting additional referees
  • How parents and coaches should appropriately approach referees on match day
  • Investment in referee certifications to support and grow our referee pool

We will toss out prizes and giveaways to the crowd—be ready to catch!

6:58 PM – Coach Sign Contest Judging (5 mins)
Cheer for your coach and help us pick the best team sign of the night.

7:03 PM – Wrap-Up & Team Time

7:03–7:15 PM – Gear Swap (Post-Event)
Families are welcome to stay after the event to trade and pick up gear.
