2026 Pines Fall Soccer Meet the Team Night

📍 Location: Sadie Halstead Middle School Gymnasium

5:15 PM – Board and Volunteer Arrival

Board members and volunteers arrive to help set up team areas, signs, check-in, the gear swap, and materials for the evening.

5:30–6:00 PM – Gear Swap

Families may arrive early to browse and trade gently used cleats and shin guards.

5:35 PM – Coach Arrival

Coaches should locate their team’s area and display the sign with their last name. Coaches should be ready to welcome players and families when the doors open.

6:00 PM – Team Assignments and Check-In

Families will check SportsEngine to find their player’s team assignment. Players will then enter the gym and locate their coach using the team signs.

Board members and volunteers will help families find their teams and answer questions.

6:10 PM – Welcome and Opening Remarks (5 minutes)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA President

• Welcome families to the 2026 fall season
• Thank coaches, volunteers, and families
• Brief overview of the season ahead
• Our goals for continuing to grow soccer in the community

6:15 PM – Community Supporter Recognition (3 minutes)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA President

6:18 PM – Program Experience and Expectations (5 minutes)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA President

• Positive, player-first environment
• Minimum 50% playing time for every player
• Co-ed and inclusive league experience
• Creating a season centered on player development, belonging, and enjoyment

6:23 PM – Jerseys and Player Readiness (5 minutes)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA President

• Every player needs an official reversible Pines jersey for games
• New players should check their email for their jersey number, ordering link, and promo code
• Returning players may continue using their current Pines jersey if it still fits
• Families should reach out if they cannot locate their jersey information
• Players need shin guards and black socks
• Cleats are recommended for older divisions

6:28 PM – Fields, Facilities, Practices, and Game-Day Spaces (5 minutes)
Speaker: Nick Tucker, POSA Vice President

• Practice locations and scheduling expectations
• How fields will be organized on game days
• Teams and coaches remain together on one sideline
• Parents and spectators sit on the opposite sideline
• No parents or spectators may sit at the ends of the field or near either goal
• Maintain appropriate space around team areas and field boundaries
• Respect and care for fields, goals, equipment, and school property
• Appreciation for Newport School District for supporting the program

6:33 PM – Safety and Coaching Requirements (5 minutes)
Speaker: Kristen Hunt, POSA Safety Officer

• US Soccer coaching license
• Safe Soccer training and background check
• Concussion training
• CPR certification
• Completion of all outstanding coaching requirements
• How families and coaches can raise safety questions or concerns

6:38 PM – Equipment and Program Investment (5 minutes)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA Pesident

• More than $3,000 invested in high-quality soccer balls
• One ball available for every player
• Future equipment priorities for the program
• Expectations for caring for team equipment

6:43 PM – Officiating, Code of Conduct, and Game-Day Expectations (7 minutes)
Speaker: Jeff McCormick, Director of Officiating

• Code of conduct expectations for players, coaches, families, and spectators
• How conduct on the sidelines affects players, referees, and the game
• Coaches are responsible for communicating with referees
• Parents and spectators should not coach from the sidelines or confront officials
• Expectations for respectful behavior before, during, and after games
• Overview of officiating and any game-flow or rule changes
• Recruiting and developing additional referees
• POSA’s continued investment in referee training and certification

6:50 PM – Parent Involvement and Volunteer Roles (5 minutes)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA President

• Volunteer opportunities throughout the season
• Helping with field setup, cleanup, practices, games, and events
• Supporting coaches with team communication, snacks, and other needs
• The importance of families contributing to the success of the program

6:55 PM – Pines Club Team Growth (5 minutes)
Speaker: Tim Chilcott, POSA President

• Recognize the Pines Club players attending Meet the Team Night
• Pines launched its high school boys club team last year
• The competitive program has continued to grow with the launch of a U12 boys team this year
• Explain how the recreational league provides the foundation for future competitive opportunities
• Give younger players an opportunity to see where soccer can take them as they continue developing
• Thank the club players for showing up to welcome and support the younger Pines players
• Announce our hope to continue growth with a girls U12 team next

7:00 PM – Raffle Prizes and Giveaways (5 minutes)

Prizes and giveaways will be tossed into the crowd.

7:05 PM – Coach Sign Contest (5 minutes)

Players and families will cheer for their favorite coach sign, and the winning coach will be recognized.

7:10 PM – Wrap-Up and Team Time

Families will have time to meet with their coaches, confirm practice information, ask team-specific questions, and get to know one another.

7:10–7:20 PM – Gear Swap and Questions

The gear swap will remain open. Board members and volunteers will be available to answer questions and help families who need additional assistance.
